We All Float On is another experiment with drawing on glass. I have been doing a bit of research into myths and folktales, and have been more than a little fascinated with the reanimation of the dead in the form of souls. I started out drawing some amoeba-like blobs in this picture, which turned into something sort of resembling a bloodstream. I tried the same effect with lead oxide on glass and eventually got them to match the watercolour ones pretty closely. Having this layered effect really enhances the overall floaty feeling of the drawing. For the character's apparition I added a little paper cutout shadow which I illuminated from the back and turned the whole thing into a lightbox, as seen below.
